We walked past the Santa Village at the mall a couple weeks ago expecting our kids to beg to go sit on his lap. Sawyer wouldn’t go near him, and Camryn gave him one look and said, “That’s just a guy in a costume. That’s not the real Santa.” Whaaaaat???!! We talked it out and agreed that maybe he was just one of Santa’s helpers, but still I was a little sad about their lack of enthusiasm… until we saw the REAL Santa! A shopping center near us was giving free carriage rides with Santa. When Camryn saw him she said, “THAT’S the real Santa!” He had rosy cheeks, a real white beard, & his “Ho, Ho, Ho,” was very convincing.
Sawyer crawled right up onto his lap. This is the first picture with Santa where he’s not crying! He even gave him a hug.
The ride gave each kid plenty of time to talk to Santa. Carter & Brady wished for electric guitars, Camryn wished for a fake computer (new to me!), & Sawyer just said trains. He reminded them to be good so they can stay on the “Nice” list, and said he would be coming in just a few days.
I love seeing the magic of Christmas through my kids’ eyes!
