Family Vacation!!! (Part 4)

Our second stop was at Coco Cay, the cruise line’s private island.  The ship was tendered off the shore and small boats took us to the dock.  The island had everything you would imagine in a tropical paradise – white sand, aqua blue water, & coconut palms blowing in the breeze.  Wow!  There were hammocks and lounge chairs all over and plenty of places to explore.   The temperature was a high of 84 and low of 77.  It couldn’t have been more perfect.

The cruise line set up their adventure kids’ club right there off the beach, so Camryn & Sawyer were able to play while we took the bigger boys snorkeling.  They had a blast building sand castles, searching for hermit crabs, playing games,  and doing crafts.

Okay, this was probably one of our favorite parts of the trip.  The snorkeling was AMAZING!!!  The water was perfectly clear and there were bright colored fish everywhere.   Greg even found a huge star fish.  There were two different sunken airplanes and cannons to swim out to and explore.  They had set up a scavenger hunt with little wooden fish to search for on the ocean floor.  We didn’t find any, but sure had fun trying.

Oh, yeah… the jelly fish.  We had seen a couple of them the first time we went out and just tried to keep our distance.  Then, later in the afternoon I stopped to adjust my mask and suddenly felt a burning/stinging sensation on my cheek.  Yep, I was stung on my face by a jelly fish!  I was a little freaked out imagining my face swelling up or some other painful reaction, but it really wasn’t all that bad.  The lady at the first aid booth sprayed vinegar on it and said the numbness would go away in a few hours.  She said it would be just like I had gotten Botox.  So now I know.  What an experience!

The cruise line provided an all-you-can eat barbeque lunch right off the beach with ribs, chicken, burgers, hot dogs, salads, etcetera.  Food, food, food, everywhere!!!

We were one of the last people to finally leave the island.  What a relaxing day with no worries, cell phones, computers, television, etc. – PARADISE! Since it was only a 3-night cruise, we squeezed every bit of fun out of every minute we were there.  After cleaning up from the beach, we went out and did some rock climbing on the deck.

We ended the night by watching the farewell stage show in the theater .  There was lots of dancing, singing, and glittery costume changes.  We were sad it was coming to an end, but we still had one more day left on our adventure.
